Site & First Impressions

From the second-floor level, the site commands sweeping views of Sagami Bay to the south and the mountain range leading from Odawara to Hakone. On first visit, we felt both the joy of designing in such a stunning location and the responsibility to fully honor its potential.
　

U-Shaped Plan for Privacy and Views

To shield the terrace from nearby buildings and surrounding roads while opening toward the ocean, we proposed a U-shaped plan. The dining–living terrace allows casual meals and tea with a view of the sea, while a second covered terrace—an extension of the living room—offers a relaxed space to enjoy Hakone’s mountains in any weather.
　

Seamless Indoor–Outdoor Living

Connecting interiors with outdoor spaces has been central to our design philosophy since the firm’s founding. On the first floor as well, each main bedroom, powder room, bathroom, and guest room opens to its own outdoor area, enhancing daily comfort and openness.
　

Comfortable Thermal Environment

Another guiding principle is creating a comfortable thermal environment with high airtightness and insulation. Here, too, we incorporated a foundation-embedded radiant heating system, ensuring an even temperature throughout the home from the moment one enters.

Our client, experienced in the building industry, understood structural vulnerabilities and key design considerations. Their openness to ideas—while thoroughly addressing insulation, waterproofing, and durability—created an inspiring, positive environment for our entire design team, including AS. Urban Home with Parkside Serenity
　

Site & Concept

Set in the city center yet bordering a large park, the site offers a northeastern panorama over lush greenery to the high-rise skyline. Our design aimed to embrace this openness and bring it into daily life without obstruction.
　

Signature Triangular Window

We crafted a simple cubic form with a dramatic triangular window framing the skyward view. A south-facing floating terrace and double-height living room create openness both north–south and vertically, making the living area the heart of the home.
　

Shared Vision & Collaboration

From the start, the client eagerly anticipated the triangular window’s completion. Their passion, combined with the dedication of the design and construction teams, carried the project through to a beautiful result.
　

Warmth & Comfort

To fulfill the client’s wish for a warm, spacious home, we implemented high airtightness, advanced insulation, and a foundation-embedded radiant heating system. This provides even, draft-free warmth, protects the structure, and ensures long-term comfort.
